SCADA Systems for Wastewater

Motorola's RTUs are used extensively in the monitoring and control of wastewater systems. The flexibility of the MDLC (Motorola Data Link Communications) protocol and the intelligence of the RTU allows complex local controls and analysis of a PLC to be combined with the extremely reliable radio communications properties that the MDLC protocol provides.

The following is a list of some of the features available in our wastewater systems.

  • Automatic pump controls are available at each RTU.
  • Setpoints can be uploaded to lift stations by the SCADA system operator, so setpoints are changed dynamically as system requirements change.
  • Automatic rotation of pumps is available based on manual settings, daily schedules, weekly schedules, or based on other parameters.
  • P.I.D. loop equation capabilities are provided standard with all RTUs.
  • Store-and-forward repeater operation is available from any RTU in the system, allowing greatly expanded coverage areas for your SCADA system.
  • The RTU can communicate with co-located panels, equipment, and sensors via RS-232, RS-485, or IP using several protocols.
